Kennel Services

Carlsbad Caverns Trading Company operates a kennel service where you may leave your pet in a temperature controlled environment while you tour the cave.
Before deciding to bring your pet to Carlsbad Caverns, please read the NPS rules and considerations.

Vaccine Requirements: For dogs – Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella (kennel cough), and Canine Influenza. For cats – Rabies, Distemper, and Panleukopenia. Owners are required to show a copy of the pet’s vaccination record with the expiration date when boarding a pet. No exceptions. Collor tags don’t meet this requirement and won’t be accepted.

Please be prepared with pet vaccine information when checking in. 

Fee: $15 per animal

Operating Hours:

• 8:30 AM-4:30 PM (Labor Day weekend through the Friday before Memorial Day weekend)
• 8:30 AM-6:30 PM (Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day)

Pet Check-In:

• No later than 4:00 PM during Winter Hours
• No later than 6:00 PM during Summer Hours

Pet Check-Out:  No Later than 30 minutes before closing

Additional Information:

• Kennel services are available for day use only on a first come first served basis
• Kennels come with filled water bowls
• Pet owners can provide food and/or bedding if needed
• Employees are not responsible for feeding, walking, or any other pet related service
• Kennels come in four sizes and pets are kept in cages relative to their size
• Carlsbad Caverns Trading Company accepts no responsibilities for injuries that might occur during a pet’s stay in the kennel
